Mood: A long run through the desert? Why not!

Just to prove that I ran in Arizona, here is a photo of a cactus. I ran straight through 3 miles of barren desert on a paved trail that is quite literally the only thing around. I did this on the recommendation of my brother who said that it was a nice run, but it might be a little long. He was right on both counts, as it was a very nice run, but the entire loop ended up being 10 miles. I have no regrets, as it actually was a memorable and lovely run, but I was happy it didn't take much longer, as the sun was starting to really rev up to uncomfortable levels by the time I finished. I don't mind running in Arizona once every few years, but if I lived here, it would be hard to maintain my enthusiasm for the sport.
